Sterile dissections
Cell culture (Cancer)
Suggested list of materials to sterilize for cell culture
When antibiotics are to be used, use 0.1mg/ml
gentamicin !!!
C 0.5, 1.5ml Ependorf tubes (~50 each)
C 200 Fl & 1000 Fl
pipette tips (1 box each)
C 1 black dissection dish
C Several 35mm transparent Sylgard Petri dishes with pins
C Perfusion bottles (2 x 250ml, 1 x 500ml and an optional 1000ml)
C 1 graduated cylinder (100-250 ml)
C Several 100ml capped bottles
C Several 500ml and/or 1000ml capped bottles
C 1 beaker (250-500 ml)
C 1 box Kimwipes (wrapped in aluminum foil)
C 1 lt distilled water
C Fire polished suction pipettes
C Cancer Saline (1 liter for dissections kept cold)
C Cancer Supplement
solution (1 lt)
C Zero Ca++ /
Zero Mg++
solution (250ml, sterile and with antibiotics)
Other solutions:
C Leibovitz L-15 medium (Gibco). It comes as a powder that has to be
dissolved in sterile water.
C This will be mixed 50-50 with
the supplement solution.
C Gentamicin (Gibco, 50mg/ml)
C (Fungizone) Not for now.
