- Freshwater shrimp. Widely distributed asian species with not very large eggs. They lay eggs in saltwater so rearing maybe hard, Johnson says. - lay eggs every molt or every other molt. They molt every month or so. % will attack females during molting, specially if are not bearing eggs. So careful with animals in small aquaria. - Keep tanks well cleaned/aeriated. Biological filters are important to prevent accumulation of NH3. Tanks kept at 84NF. - Keep in freshwater but put them in saltwater/freshwater at 6/1000 dilution when the eggs turn grey (they are bright orange initially, turn brown later and grey about 1 week before hatching). Immediately after hatching (and NOT later than 24-48hrs after) transfer the larvae to a 12/1000 salt/freshwater tank. - # of eggs is function of size: for bigger than 50g, ~750 eggs per body g. It takes 21 days of embryonic life until hatching and then 21-30 days (12 molts) until the first young adult stage (postlarva). - Feed adults with parine chow chow or shrimp food stuff. - Feed larvae with Artemia salina only until 10 days of age. Then supplement the Artemia with finely chopped fish, squid. Feed once a day
